  • If you are rude, there’s harassment. Anything that makes your coworkers feel uncomfortable qualifies. You are riding on their desire to avoid conflict. If anyone who has half your willingness to engage in conflict arrives in your office, you will be gone the moment HR hears the word attorney because they don’t have your boss to answer to, they work on behalf of the company as a whole to prevent lawsuits. The company may reward you for being callous, but they’ll do the same to those above you, who will drop you like a sack of dog droppings the moment you become inconvenient for the company, hire someone cheaper, and pocket a bonus for shrinking the budget.

I’m guessing you are enough of an asshole you won’t change your behaviour, even after they fire you. You’ll just be that guy, neck deep in his cups, complaining about these snowflakes who ‘can’t stand not being coddled,’ (read, aren’t willing to put up with your BS) and ‘got you fired.’ You’re a loser. It just hasn’t hit you yet.

  • And if everyone’s distaste for being around you leads to bad quarterlies from your manager, bad peer reviews from your colleagues, your IT tickets being mysteriously deleted so they don’t have to deal with you, your team filing reports with HR for harassment, and no one liking you enough to give you the benefit of the doubt, you can take that rudeness into the interview process at a new company and see how far it gets you with their HR.

  • Keeping it very simple:

The government sells tickets for which buyers pay $100. If the 10-year treasury bond rate is 10%, tickets can be turned in after ten years to get $110. If the government uses the $100 they get at the start to build something which allows them to collect at least $110 in taxes, (things like infrastructure to enable commerce, or educational spending to increase personal income, etc.) it covers its costs. There are complexities but this is the boiled down version of how many government activities are funded through debt.

As for who is owed the debt, it’s whoever holds the tickets. They can be bought and sold at will so investors trade them regularly. They are generally the low-risk/low-reward option for investment because they don’t usually pay a great rate, but will only be a loss if the country itself collapses.

  • One of the things to think about is just how much damage would be done to joker’s body over time as a non-superpowered human. Joker’s getting kicked to pieces repeatedly. He’s not getting Bruce Wayne’s concierge medical care. He’d be a maraca of bone shards after the first few beatdowns. Now, he’s crazy, so maybe he doesn’t even notice the pain, but you have to expect he’d be going around with a garishly colored walker after the twentieth time being thrown through a window onto concrete.

  • Pedantic, I know, but this is a mural not graffiti. Graffiti, from Italian for scribble, is writing. A mural, from Latin murus for wall, painting is a painting done directly on a wall. Even colloquially, graffiti is usually used for unsanctioned, often illegal, painting. This looks like the city specifically asked for the painting. Quite pretty, though.
