“Probably because it was marked nsfw. My first thought was that someone’s looking for porn.”
That someone is me. And no, if I wanted porn I’d go straight to Pornhub, not post a reverse-image-search question on Lemmy.
Your first thought was porn because that’s where your brain lives. The post is a fully clothed red-haired woman in a blue dress with a clear title asking who she is. The only person who immediately jumped to “this must be porn” is you.
Congrats on outing your own reflex. The rest of us managed to read the title and see an actual question.
That person was saying he thought that because it was marked nsfw, and you didn’t address that, you just attacked him. Your response seems out of line.
“Because the poster could search it up online instead of asking here?”
(I was curious anyway, it’s a Korean singer)
Brother, the entire point of Ask communities is people asking questions they could technically search. That’s the whole genre. You just described 90% of every AskLemmy, AskReddit, and StackExchange post ever made and somehow still thought you dropped wisdom.
You even admitted you were curious and looked it up yourself… after complaining that someone asked. Peak self-own. Next time just stay quiet and enjoy the free reverse image search someone else already did for you.
Self-own? I just answered the question with why I think it’s downvoted, without giving judgement. And I vaguely gave the answer to the main question, because I’m still unsure whether you want us to look it up for you or if you want to know whether we know her
The downvotes are mostly from misogynist who hates beautiful, rich, and powerful women and people who get offended that someone used an Ask community the way it’s designed, then felt the need to announce it.
Classic Lemmy: ask a question → get reverse image search results → also get a free lecture about how you should’ve already known the answer. Peak productivity.
What’s with all the downvotes on this post?
It doesn’t fit the community. Description is literally about “thought provoking questions”, not functioning as OP’s search engine
Huh, interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that. Thanks.

Have a nice day pal.

It was only my first thought. Now I have several more.

As Ember pointed out, no, that’s not the point of the community. It’s for open ended, thought provoking questions.

The fuck are you even babbling about?
