  • I want to build on what rose said.

Privacy here does not exist. If everyone can see, then everyone can see…

We are here for avoidance of corporate ownership and how they directly exploit us. There is 0 protections against them expoiting us really. (But us)

We block who we want to not see, they will still see you. If a stalker chased you, you block them, you won’t see them, and a mod hopefully will help, but they are smarter to not… Because they aren’t blocking IP addresses, they are blocking a username which any new one can come from anywhere… so what’s best?

Society rejecting a person means more than a mod rejecting one. I’m sure many want them blocked/banned/gone, it really it’s stupid. Keep them where they are, identify them, and recogze a person as what they are.

I don’t want to know Trump is called Paul Tommorow, I want to recognize a rapist by his name. Ban him, he comes back as Paul

  • For part 2, they would put a mole in the group, and create a situation where someone acts like they get hurt and shoot a blank or a 22 at a group of police with riot gear on. Then smear them as armed terrorists across all media use facial recognition and security around town to collect plates, track down their locations and arrest them individually.

If enough people do it, it would work still, but hundreds of people would go to jail first.

I imagine most people would turn on the protesters first though. As many companies would not want to be seen as supporting armed terrorists so they would actively fire people who get named or post on social media about supporting them.

  • Not sure I haven’t used transmission much. I’m lazy and used to use qbittorrent because of its search feature was handy. Skip going to a bunch of sites hunting for something and just search it directly from the app. We now have seerr setup, so I don’t use it as much but it’s been a solid setup over the years. Set the machine to split tunnel the VPN, run qbit through the VPN and then host jellyfin or what not on the same machine, so you can kick off a download in sequential order, have the download location set to your jellyfin library, so you just refresh the movies list, and start watching while it downloads. I’m so lazy I’d use rustdesk to remote to the laptop that hosted it so I didnt have to walk to the other room.

Basically spouse says “I heard such and such is good” and then id kick it off and in about 2 minutes we’d be watching it.

(In that setup you don’t need to expose jellyfin to the internet or have a domain, you can just download the jellyfin app on your Roku/android/w.e tv and set the server to http://the.local.ip.address:8096/ and your good to go
