It took me way too long to figure out what I was looking at.
Next time zoom out a bit so that the surrounding area is visible for context.
Exactly! I use Firefox in desktop mode on my Fold 7 and it is absolutely sublime. If only I could have the entire OS as a desktop experience on this thing! That would be amazing!
As a foldable enthusiast, the situation is even more dire for me. Nobody makes a Linux-compatible foldable with flagship specs. I wish I could go back to normal phones, but I like my pocket tablet way too much to do that. Once you go foldable, you don’t go back.
Going by the specs (and the DVD + AOL 5.0 sticker) this particular PC was released in 1999. eMachines lasted until 2013, therefore if you paid the subscription fee, you could have owned seven new PCs over the course of a decade and a half for under $700. That’s an insanely good deal. I imagine that they could recoup the funds by recycling the old machine and also counting on a lot of people paying the fee and then never upgrading (like how gym memberships work. The more people that sign up and then never go to the gym, the better).
What was even the point of the Game Port (and why was it on the sound card)? I always wanted a PC with one—and by the time I finally got one—it went completely unused because every joystick and controller I ever owned only ever had a serial or USB connection.
This annoys me every time it comes up because if you read the fine print, they’re not literally saying that the computer will last forever as-is, they’re selling a subscription service. I mean you can literally read what it says in the pic: for $99 you can upgrade to a new PC ever two years, effectively meaning that your PC will never be obsolete, so long as you keep paying the fee.

41·7 days agoSee? This is what I mean! People like you are part of the problem. Nobody takes this shit seriously. You just mock me when I get mad for a valid reason. I really hate how apathetic everyone is compared to 20-30 years ago. All you care about is being clever and funny enough to get upvotes while the world burns. It’s fucking pathetic.

1·8 days agoWhat baffles me is why anyone still uses torrents when we have Usenet and Debrid services. Why wait for seeds, when you can just get a direct download of the exact same content at your internet connection’s maximum download speed?
Speaking of bridges, I like “cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get over it!”

8·8 days agoIf anything, it’s not aggressive enough! Everyone is so apathetic about everything compared to 20-30 years ago. Between the rise of Fascism and the cost of living, life has never been shitter yet no one seems to give a fuck. Why aren’t we rioting and revolting until shit stops sucking so god damn much!? Where is everyone’s passion!?
I’ve been on this planet for four decades. It used to not be this way! People used to care! Now it seems like all of society has become emotional zombies, and if you dare to step out of line and speak up about some injustice, you get labeled as “crashing out”. It’s such fucking bullshit! I’m not crashing out; I’m pissed the fuck off that the world is run by evil men and no one is doing anything about it!
My girlfriend got our cats “human-flavored” treats (it’s a Halloween promotion). They like it way too much, which is concerning.
So yes? Because cash ATMs also work in reverse: you can insert cash and it will show up in your bank account.
Does it work in reverse too: insert salmon, get cash?
I use them in at least one out every of ten comments; I feel like most people don’t know how to use them, however.
