Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Where do you see us going? Everything is shit and going to shit.
1·2 days agoWe can’t. And if we could, I wouldn’t want to. Judge me however you like, I don’t want to live in a world where I have to kill others to survive. I’ll take death to that.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do cops still ask for registration during traffic stop?
1·3 days agoHalf of people are saying they don’t get asked for it, but for me it’s been 100% of the time.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can somedy explain to me the issue with the voter ID law they want to pass in the US?
1·3 days agoThank you. That is atrocious/unconstitutional and I may have forgotten about it… The page says
Where things stand right now.
As of March 18, 2026, the Senate is actively debating the SAVE America Act. The bill needs 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.
So is this what OP is talking about? Has there been recent movement on this which is not reflected on that page?

0·3 days agoWhat “voter ID law?” It would be unconstitutional to legislate that at a federal level and while I don’t doubt Republicans would love to try it, I’ve not heard about that.
As with most laws in America, voting related laws are passed at the state level. There have been probably hundreds of bills like this over the past 20 years so you’d need to be more specific for anyone to address the “law” singular as you put it.

Privacy@lemmy.world•If you're able, cancel your sub to Proton, cite Andy as the reasonEnglish
2·3 days agoYeah, not only do people who do that not elaborate, they often insult you for even considering something they’re judgy about. Proton in this case. That was how both commenters approached it. Telling me I’m an idiot if I go with the recommendation that actually existed. They could’ve at least said what they use. One (non rude) person did mention tuta but I figured the bigger company would be more reliable to stick around 😭

5·3 days agoAfter decades on Gmail I finally stopped procrastinating and moved almost everything to proton over the last week. I had made a Lemmy post asking for service recommendations. Almost everyone said proton except two jerks who railed against it but had no interest in explaining and they made no alternative recommendation, just railed against proton.
Reading this article right now sucks.
JavaScript bad!

01·5 days agoYes being so against a technology that you will spread lies about it makes one an extremist. Siding with that… Whatever. Have fun with that. I won’t be seeing anymore of this from you.

01·5 days agoYou thought you were being subtle but if your response to an extremist viewpoint is “yes they make a good point” you’re not getting it but you do seem to want to definitely take a side.
“I’m just being objective but your point isn’t worth addressing while the thought process you take issue with is totally valid”

01·5 days agoYou say most people believe this, but I see many people every day for weeks now claiming Linux is vibecoded now. Why? Three stories: 1) months ago LLM use was not outright banned in kernel development 2) Linus admitted to using LLMs in an experimental branch to find and patch bugs 3) a recent shift in attitude happened, toward LLM-driven PRs because there were too many, and the reaction from Linus and the other maintainers was to raise the bar for submitting PRs to reduce the chance of slop wasting people’s time.
All of this was a series of level headed responses and course corrections which at no time was indicative of anything more than LLMs are useful sometimes. Yet people all over Lemmy are saying shit like “Linux is all in on vibecoding”. Besides that issue, I’ve seen and been involved in many conversations where idiots will say that any use of AI is super unethical and unacceptable. The binary thinking on this issue is strong on here.
