If I expanded that explanation to everyone, that would be silly. In no way am I proposing everyone has the same reason for disliking pink Floyd as my 10th grade friend. I do think some people feel like he did, though, about various things.

This is vital context. Big difference between like working in a kitchen with a bunch of people and working a software remote job.

What episode was this from?
I had a friend in high school who was always putting down pink Floyd. He’d say the lyrics were simple and the music was gimmicky.
Eventually, one day, I got out of him that the real source of his ire was he, quote, “didn’t want to be one of those kids who’s into pink Floyd”.
I think about this sometimes. He made up all these plausible sounding excuses, but the truth was something social that he was embarrassed to admit.
Granted, we were in 10th grade, but I think a lot of people still act that way.
Hopefully Tim’s doing good these days.

Javascript is a language full of weird quirks. A language with fewer footguns would probably be smoother for learning fundamentals. Python is pretty good in terms of letting you do the thing, instead of making you find a third party library (not that one, that’s deprecated) or having unexpected default behavior ( in JS [1,2] + [3,4] is the string 1,23,4, for example)
TypeScript adds more guard rails, but is a little more complex to get going.
Everywhere I’ve worked that did micro services it was kind of a pain. One of the places I’ve worked had a simple monolith backend and it was great.

As a tutorial grade react developer (please return me to the backend where I am mediocre instead of bad), having more senior developers take the time to explain why my code was bad was really helpful.
Also I think I just kind of hate JavaScript. It always feels like everything is more complicated and booby trapped than it should be.
This makes me feel better about finding the look, at least from the photos on the page, deeply unpleasant
