Yeah, the translation is better than trying to deal with a shopkeeper who doesn’t want to yukkuri the fuck hanashite kudasai or whatever. I have a vocabulary of maybe 800 words but whatever you’re speaking is way outside it.

Partly nostalgia. Partly the political situation (as @VonReposti says). Partly the climate being more stable. By the year 3000 I’ll probably be wanting to re-experience the world before ecological poverty.

Partly just thinking, that if I’m going to be stuck somewhere with enough to keep me entertained for a good long while, the real world is a pretty good place. Access to all the books, video games, movies, TV, and anime I could possibly want. :)

Assuming that the game can’t actually kill you? Probably some mundane simulation of 1997 ish. Give me enough in-universe currency and fast travel.
