That’s why you need to use the block button liberally here. It sucks, but once you block a few instances and a couple of dozen users, the content here is more moderate and less insane.
Sadly the small size of lemmy/fedi allows a few dozen users to basically dominate the content pool. And they are vicious towards anyone they regard as hostile to themselves.
Once I blocked .ml, blahj, and a few others, the content here got way more sane and less negative. The users in those instance have bully complexes.
That’s fair. I’m usually hesitant to block individuals because I don’t think one or two negative comments should invalidate someone’s opinions forever. Sometimes I even try and engage to try and provide some human connection. But, maybe it’s worth a try on the obvious negative for the sake of it folks.
