Maybe there's a better way to phrase this chronological arrangement.Arizona does not comply with daylight savings time. As Bobby Hill complained, "It's like standing on the Sun." It does not spring forward or fall back because the last thing you want in Arizona is another hour of daylight. The Navajo Nation, however, which comprises most of the northeastern portion of the state, can make its own chronological decisions. It does comply with daylight savings time. The Hopi Nation is an enclave territory (wel...

Yeah Manitoba was the trend setter, BC and Alberta (which I forgot to mention) followed after the Manitoba NDO made the announcement

Not pictured is the cluster of buildings that is the Navajo Embassy to the Hopi Nation. I’ve been told that that “block” and the surrounding road observe DLS.

So if going from Phoenix to the Four Corners, there is a route where you’d theoretically need to change your clock 6 times before leaving the state.

And if your phone syncs with your car, your car’s time will flip back and forth a lot.

You have to have more darkness at some point in the day during winter, there’s no getting around it. Arizona just made a choice to have darker mornings in lieu of no clock changes.

And to be fair they are further south so the daylight isn’t quite as scarce as it is in more northern states. I think getting rid of the clock changes makes a bit more sense the further south you go.

I can see the argument for DST or no DST. I can even sort of see the argument for DST matching the economic powerhouse a few hundred miles away. But there is nothing in planetary physics to justify 3 different time zone usages in such a small area, with major cities being on a different one than all the area around them, or for one quadrant to be (mostly) different from the rest of it.

Moreover, there is only a 2 hour shift of sunrise/sunset from the peak of summer to the depths of winter. That’s barely enough to justify the hassle of DST in my opinion.

If your DST is pink, go see a doctor.
