Lol in Germany clubs have to get a special permit to allow the club to be open past 12 am on Halloween because November 1st you’re not allowed to dance. Having a legal party that went after 12 am on Halloween was radical back when I was a teen
Nah, just on November 1st since it is a religious holiday.
There are a couple more no-dance holidays, November 1st is just the one that started to become most noticeable because of the emerging Halloween parties in the 2000s
It’s heavily criticized and campaigned against. I mean no one will call the police if they see you dancing or throwing a private party at home (I think, though I don’t know about rural areas). It’s more for businesses and public screenings. It is absolutely outdated. My guess is that the federal lands will eventually abandon them, they just don’t get around to do it.
In a weird way I like that. It is such a funny and harmless way of defying social order to watch a forbidden movie and dance on one of these blacklisted days. It’s absolutely outdated and ridiculous but that makes the rule breaking somewhat wholesome.
And a real burden to clubs that want Halloween to be a good time for their patrons. Many Germans will report people having illegal fun even if nobody is actually harmed.
Weak club that didn’t go past 2

“Southern Germany” - Hamburg, Berlin etc. dont care about All Hallows Day
That’s true. I grew up in Munich and they take that super seriously. At least they did 10-15 years ago.
They still do. I heard it in the news yesterday.
Dancing is illegal in November??

That’s such a weird law to have in modern day

What happens if you dance on a nodance holiday?
Straight to jail
It’s All Saints’. It’s also banned to show movies that mock religion like Life of Brian

Hm well yes but it also a testament to history
