Documnentation is good. I first tried to do a manual wireguard setup, but I probably messed up somewhere because it wasn’t working. Ended up downloading the configuration file they generated, worked quite well.
Setup on Android was also very easy. Nice to see the client on F-Droid.
Does anybody here use them? Do you recommend them?
So far so good. I’ve been running regular speed tests to compare with mullvad, while I had both. Speed wise ivpn is slightly slower on average (5% or so), but also seen occasional large slowdown on ivpn which I didn’t see on mullvad. Especially some locations seem very inconsistent on ivpn.
It’s good, but some improvements on consistency would be welcome.
Thank you for your feedback!
Been subscribed since mulvad news. No regrets
Same as @snoons@lemmy.ca. Got my remaining mullvad time refunded and switched to iVPN for a month to test and then reupped.
No complaints so far. I use it on a couple Linux machines and Android. I tested it out on my router and it worked but I haven’t had any cause to use it at that level yet.
You’ll get the rare slowdown or reconnect, but I’ve run into that with any VPN I’ve ever used. They’re once in a blue moon though.
*Edit one very minor complaint I remembered is that left clicking the tray icon in KDE does nothing. You have to right click > Show iVPN. I rarely have to use it, but it was annoying at first.
That’s weird. Left clicking the topbar icon in Ubuntu works as expected.
I use it in atomic Fedora distros with the package layered. So that’s almost certainly the problem since it works fine for you.
Yes, been with them since maybe a month after Mullvad was shown to be funding fascists. No complaints, in fact I prefer them because they have port-forwarding (do they? DO THEY‽).
Oh, they still do? That’s good news, I thought they had removed it based on https://www.privacyguides.org/en/vpn/#remote-port-forwarding_1
Oh dang, maybe I’m wrong. Now that I think about it I was just assuming because their connection is a lot faster then Mullvads.
Do you still have to pay in petrodollars?
Cash, Monero, Bitcoin is what they claim.
Which made me discover that you can’t buy Monero in Europe, it’s delisted from most crypto platforms…
You can’t buy it from a company. It’s still possible (and afaik legal) to buy from another person off a p2p exchange.
