In an unexpected way we kind of did. Adult human faces look more similar to infant chimpanzees and other apes than the adult version. It’s called neoteny and there are more extreme versions like axolotl for example. Just wanted to drop the fun fact that while our babies don’t look like a smaller version of us, we look more like a bigger version of them then our ancestors did.
