What the fuck is Tildes?
a reddit clone that’s fairly active, but small. the admin personally controls it, there are no mods.
I was on it for a few months before one comment got me drive by banned by the mod because ‘you are stupid’.
mod basically bans anyone they don’t like and refuses to allow any topic they don’t like. and a lot of people there seem to enjoy being under a ‘positivity’ dictator. it’s a fairly culty space and they enjoy jerking themselves off about how sophisticated they are.

It’s a unique site outside of the darn mod. I really like how old posts can rise to the front page based on activity and the engagement of users. But yeah the mod sucks.
Btw Lemmy/Piefed let you sort by “active” which is loosly the function for a post to rise to the top when someone comments on it (it does rabk with votes too so it’s not 1:1)
Tildes is a pretty small community, so a lot of people are likely to be unfamiliar with it.
For example, I realize it’s a small independent platform, but I don’t know how I’d characterize the vibe, let alone what about the vibe you liked. Also, what type of content did you like there? If you’re more specific about that, maybe people can give you better advice.
