Now that you say that, he might have gassed it as the final move in a game of chicken and it was just a twist of moral luck that saved him from genociding a planet.
I want to like Picard best, by which I mean: I think Picard was the best and most moral captain*, but I’m not from a post scarcity society, and I’m still a little rough around the edges. I like sisko better, because he’s not constantly gracious, he gets mad, he allows a little terrorism as a treat, and he can live with it, he can live with it.
He did almost gas that world though…
- watching Picard just continuously make the right choice actively influenced my own ethical decision making process, and I’ll always be grateful to have an internal Jean-Luc. I hope one day I’ll live in a world where I can only channel him and not sisko.
Prescriptivist nonsense
I love irregular conjugations in English, and I’m torn between being excited to see “forbade” in the wild and sad because it’s used for the perfect form, instead of the preterite.
That’s why I do that :)
I had to put in a request for a new shower hose every other month for a while, because my landlord got a bulk deal on the shittiest possible hoses and even without ever adjusting the position of my shower head, they would leak to the point that my shower was unusable after less than eight hours of total use (I shower quick).
I just send them a copy of the receipt and deduct it from my rent. That way I don’t have to see them in person

Other solutions include window film (as long as it is placed on the exterior of the glass) and ceramic frit glass (glass with fritdots).[30] Windows can also be covered with decals spaced no more than 5 cm horizontally or 10 cm vertically to prevent collisions.[31]
I had assumed it was cheaper to do dots, but it’s actually just more broadly effective. That’s a better reason :)
They used to play an album of Pink Floyd extended tracks at my gym. It was terrible workout music, but otherwise really nice.
