Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•People living in Texas received this adEnglish
12·5 days agoThis is a desperate scare tactic and not necessarily a reflection of how most people here think. I live in Texas, and our airwaves have been so utterly saturated with anti-trans ads. I get the sense a lot of the people who used to be activated with this rhetoric are genuinely questioning why Republicans are only talking about this.
Rural folk feel the cost of gas and groceries even more acutely than city folk. When I drive through rural parts of Central Texas, where there used to be Trump signs everywhere, there are few to no signs supporting any Republicans. I could count on one hand the number of Paxton and Abbott signs I’ve seen on the roadside, but there are regularly Talarico and Hinojosa signs.
It feels like we’re approaching a cultural shift of some kind down here. Please, dear god, let’s have a cultural shift.

Wow, this is an incredibly sexist comment about a genderless comic. From experience, when I walk up to the sink and start doing the dishes, and then my SO walks up and asks me to do the dishes (which has happened a number of times) I think they’re being unobservant and controlling and I feel unappreciated. That’s what this comment is about, lady.

At the Irish-Italian parade in New Orleans, they throw potatoes, carrots, and cabbages off floats the way they throw beads and doubloons for Mardi Gras. I think I prefer the vegetables
