Century egg is just egg that’s a different colour. It reaches that colour because it’s been simmered in some tea/soup for a long time (hours to a few days) at low heat.
I would eat a century egg over a whole raw onion any day.

That sounds like a tea egg. Century eggs are cured in an alkaline solution for weeks to months. Both taste fine.
