A Potato That Tastes Like Roast Chicken? That’s Exactly What Chefs Say About This New Variety
www.foodandwine.com
external-link
A potato that tastes like roast chicken? That’s what chef Dan Barber and his team discovered with the Poulette, a new variety created by Cornell University researchers who crossed a rare French heirloom potato with one of their own breeding lines. More than a decade in the making, the Poulette has a rich, savory flavor unlike any potato Barber has tasted before.

My father devoted all his working life to growing potatoes here in rural Bogota, Colombia, so for me it’s a bit nice seeing people all over the world loving and eating potatoes. Still kinda wish people appreciated and respected more what mother nature gives to us

Travelling in Peru, I couldn’t believe the different kinds of potatoes they had.

The introduction of muskets in New Zealand in the early 19C is well argued by respected NZ historian James Belich that it was actually the potato that enabled the wars as a reliable year-round food source.

Potatoes were incredibly important in 19C NZ and still are a (probably the) staple food here.

    Reminds me of Sugarhill Gang:

Have you ever went over a friend’s house to eat And the food just ain’t no good? I mean the macaroni’s soggy, the peas are mushed And the potato tastes like chicken

From the reviews I wouldn’t expect it to taste like chicken.

I already didn’t expect it to taste like chicken. At least it apparently doesn’t taste like garbage.
