I know, right? Lmao. I hope the people reading, are using their critical thinking skills.

Could two of the three countries essentially holding the most world power, have a reason to affect the third one, that they have historically considered an enemy? And on the platfom, consisting of people from the implied country, that are mostly disappointed with their shitty system, and maybe possible to convince to not use their vote against the openly facist party, trying to push a dictatorship with a leader, that is beneficial to those two other countries? Hmmmm I wonder.

It is the propaganda machine (or, machines, both chinese and russian ones, though this one called out the chinese). Right now, they are very active, trying to get the citizens of the USA, to not vote in their election.

You can spot them even in this chain, not only throwing those short accusations, but writing those longer and longer responses, trying to bait people to answer, to tire them out, to get to spread their propaganda, and to get more visibility. They will also downvote discussions like these, so it is also easy to tell, when they are around. And everything negative said against Chinese government, is a psy-op by CIA, or people being racist, colonialists, nazis, supporting genocide in Gaza etc… for some reason especially the chinese ones seem to like the Gaza-blaming. I guess it is a sore point for many people, to be accused of supporting that genocide, which then gets the discussion derailed from what China does, as they get enraged.

Mbappe is just one of the latest personalities who have to literally apologize to Mainland China, as the chunk of their income is much derived from whatever products and services they’re selling (or pandering) to the Mainlanders.

At this stage and no thanks to the United States whose capitalists offloaded manufacturing and even technological capability to the Middle Kingdom because cheaper labor and less oversight – and now Trump’s lunatic self-destructing regime changing much of the developing world beginning with killing USAID – China is so much of a greater hegemonic capitalist power now that it has developed its own brand of “cancel culture” where some millions of Mainland Chinese who are well-to-do consumers but also nationalistic, can afford to vote with their wallets and thus humiliate anyone who dares to insult their country.

This is the Mainland China of Xi Jinping that can say no.

    The encapsulation of Mao:

“If the worst came to the worst and half of mankind died [in nuclear war], the other half would remain while imperialism would be razed to the ground and the whole world would become socialist.”

Zapp Brannigan revolutionary with no plans beyond bravado. There was/is no universe where a nuclear holocaust ends in sunshine and roses instead of the (functionally) permanent crippling of the human race. That lack of critical thought is still infecting leftist conversation today: vastly underestimating the cost and implications of actions and relying on blind appeals to moral determinism.

What you’re looking for in that comparison is Asian people in a traditional farming had, literal slants for eyes, two large front teeth in the drawing. This clearly is not that.

Trying to compare something that clearly isn’t that to the Jewish equivalent is an exact representation of what the other user above you was getting at.

Regarding your source for the claim of Mao as a sex abuser, The Private Life of Chairman Mao by Li Zhisui, here’s what Wikipedia has to say:

Several people have questioned the authenticity of the book. Li’s memoirs were not based on original records or personal diaries. During the Cultural Revolution, he burnt all of his original diaries and, as such, the book was based on restructured memories which might be wrong or fallible as Li’s collaborator, Anne Thurston, admitted.[14] Historian Frederick Teiwes accused Li of being “anti-Mao”.[15] According to Tai Hung-chao, who was the translator of the book, Random House, the company which published the book, wanted to add more “juicy bits” to the book such as Mao’s sex life in order to attract a larger readership.[15] Li disagreed with this line of approach, but eventually gave in to it.[15] A statement protesting that many of the claims made in Li’s book were false was issued soon after its publication, signed by 150 people who had personally known or worked with Mao, including Wang Dongxing, Li Yinqiao and Ye Zilong.

The about this site section of factsanddetails.com is also especially concerning:

I am not professor or an expert on the subjects I write about but I have done a fair amount of reading about them. I try to use good sources (see below) and have been doing what I am doing—collecting and organizing information and facts— for some time and feel I have developed some skill at it. The text is written in factoid style generally using language found in travel guides, magazines and newspapers rather than academic journals. I don’t have footnotes and bibliographies but I often list sources at the end of the facts or under the first fact under each subheading. When a source is not listed the information: 1) can be taken to be a generally accepted fact (often seen in at least two different places); 2) has been arrived at through observation (direct or second hand through other sources) or by common sense; or 3) was taken from a newspaper or magazine article that didn’t attribute it.

In other words, hearsay is totally fine and allowable information.

When I started this project in the 1990s I used mostly print sources such as the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Daily Yomiuri (a Japanese newspaper), The Times, National Geographic, Smithsonian magazine, The New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, The Guardian, Atlantic Monthly, Archeology magazine, Natural History magazine, news services used by these periodicals such Reuters, Associated Press and AFP, information from national tourist offices, tourist brochures I have picked up from places I have visited, Lonely Planet Guides, other travel guides, Compton’s Encyclopedia and various books and other publications.

In other words, near-exclusively western media, with no alternative perspectives whatsoever.

When I started this project I was living in the Washington D.C. area and called every embassy and national tourist office and asked them to send all the information they had—and started with that. Later, I collected the newspapers, magazines and books that I listed above and every few months spent an entire day cutting them up and putting them in piles based on country or topic and put the piles into boxes with previous piles, ending up with about half a room full of article-filled boxes. The piles of articles used so far for China and Japan alone, when added all together, would probably exceed three or four meters in height. It is a crazy system I know but is ultimately easier, more comprehensive and reliable than relying totally on Google searches.

In other words, the site maintained lived in the heart of the US, and found sources directly from the US state department.

As for Taiwan, their own self-described title is the Republic of China, who do not claim independence from the mainland but instead sovereignty as the self-percieved legitimate government of the mainland as well as Taiwan. Saying “Taiwan is not China” is actually against Taiwanese identity. The question isn’t whether or not Taiwan is Chinese, but whether the government in Taiwan or Beijing is the legitimate government of China.

As for Hong Kong, as of 2019 (the latest polling) only 17% want independence from the mainland. Hong Kong was already freed from British colonialism, and has now been returned to China as the era of colonialism has ended.

There’s no actual polling data concerning Tibet that I can find. However, prior to the intervention of the PLA, Tibet was a feudal slave society with rampant sex abuse.

The Tibetan serfs were something more than superstitious victims, blind to their own oppression. As we have seen, some ran away; others openly resisted, sometimes suffering dire consequences. In feudal Tibet, torture and mutilation — including eye gouging, the pulling out of tongues, hamstringing, and amputation — were favored punishments inflicted upon thieves, and runaway or resistant serfs. [22]

Journeying through Tibet in the 1960s, Stuart and Roma Gelder interviewed a former serf, Tsereh Wang Tuei, who had stolen two sheep belonging to a monastery. For this he had both his eyes gouged out and his hand mutilated beyond use. He explains that he no longer is a Buddhist: “When a holy lama told them to blind me I thought there was no good in religion.” [23] Since it was against Buddhist teachings to take human life, some offenders were severely lashed and then “left to God” in the freezing night to die. “The parallels between Tibet and medieval Europe are striking,” concludes Tom Grunfeld in his book on Tibet. [24]

In 1959, Anna Louise Strong visited an exhibition of torture equipment that had been used by the Tibetan overlords. There were handcuffs of all sizes, including small ones for children, and instruments for cutting off noses and ears, gouging out eyes, breaking off hands, and hamstringing legs. There were hot brands, whips, and special implements for disemboweling. The exhibition presented photographs and testimonies of victims who had been blinded or crippled or suffered amputations for thievery. There was the shepherd whose master owed him a reimbursement in yuan and wheat but refused to pay. So he took one of the master’s cows; for this he had his hands severed. Another herdsman, who opposed having his wife taken from him by his lord, had his hands broken off. There were pictures of Communist activists with noses and upper lips cut off, and a woman who was raped and then had her nose sliced away. [25]

I don’t like Wikipedia as a source, but it’s generally accepted as the standard for liberal academia. If a source criticizing communism or communist figures is disputed even among Wikipedia, then it isn’t a good source, most likely.

As for the bit on Tibet, I’m fully capable of admitting when I do not know something, unlike the person I replied to. However, I said the exact opposite of calling Tibetans “savages and pedophiles.” I called the feudal slavers as such, just like I would be comfortable calling the plantation owners of the south pedophiles and torturers. Dr. Michael Parenti painted the Tibetan serfs not as pedophiles and savages, but as people with their own agency in actively opposing their own torture:

The Tibetan serfs were something more than superstitious victims, blind to their own oppression. As we have seen, some ran away; others openly resisted, sometimes suffering dire consequences. In feudal Tibet, torture and mutilation — including eye gouging, the pulling out of tongues, hamstringing, and amputation — were favored punishments inflicted upon thieves, and runaway or resistant serfs.

As for the site I linked, it’s not the source. You can read the source on Duke University’s website, I just linked the site I did because I prefer to link text over PDFs. Dr. Michael Parenti isn’t some random person, but was a university professor and academic.

I have no idea why you attacked me with homophobia at the end, certainly you’re capable of insulting me without resorting to bigotry. Same with immediately dehumanizing me as cancer.

Well it’s true that saying taiwan is not china is a bit funny though, but in context anyone with basic readinf comprehension should know what is meant.

To play devil’s advocate, the meaning of “dictatorship” in “dictatorship of the proletariat” is different from the modern/conventional meaning of that word. Mao conceived of himself as leading a democracy, as ridiculous as that sounds.

Hitler executed about 8 million people, about 6 million of whom were jews.

Stalin starved about 20 million people.

Mao oversaw the Great Famine, following his order to kill all the sparrows in China, which lead to the starvation of 60 - 80 million people, depending on who’s counting.

No, actually, just no, colonialist regimes and fascist regimes killed far more people consistently than even incompetent communist states. The deaths of millions every year under neocolonialist comprador governments in Africa and Asia and South America happens silently every year.

Communist dictatorship is better than a totally inhuman dictatorship of capital. I legit believe this.

I have a problem with thinking the KMT should have been supported or that both sides were equally bad. I would have supported the CPC for the same reason I support Iran and Hamas against the US and Israel. The timeline where the anti-imperialists win is always better in the long term than when they lose.

Endlessly criticizing real world socialisms outside of the context of when it’s helpful is selection bias.

So, all the famine, death and destruction caused by capitalist exploitation of third world countries like india and most of the africsn continent can also directly be tied back to capitalism right? Then its at least an intellectually consistent framework youre operating under.

And doing that, the most conservative death toll, from WHO, is around 9 million excess deaths, A YEAR.

multiply that by, again lets be conservative and lets say just the last 30 years. So from the middle of the nineties to now, thats 270 million excess deaths just from imposed famine like conditions. So not even counting other deaths following the exploitation of workers and ressources in third world countries

if we just do the math, it seems capitalism is many orders of magnitude more deadly than even psychos like Stalin.

Sure, if that’s the comparison you’re making. But “capitalism” Vs Mao is not a comparison that makes sense.

You could maybe count Churchill’s famine in India or his jolly little wars in Africa if you want to be argumentative. Or just accept that Mao caused millions of deaths through pig-headed incompetence and move on.

Im just being logically consistent here m8.

you said “Because a communist dictator coming into power is often followed by severe mismanagement and famine and the deaths of millions. It’s not the same sort of evil as killing people deliberately, but they’re equally dead.”

Mao killed tens of millions. Capitalism kills hundreds of millions, and continues to do so.

If were gonna play the killscore game, might as well get the full scoreboard

Tsk. Mao is not the same sort of concept as capitalism. Has he killed more or fewer people than mosquitoes or bananas? What about too short green traffic lights? Moonless nights? All questions that make the same amount of sense. Mate.

Added: Feel free to count a famine caused by a capitalist leader against that person’s score. That’s being consistent.

what metric for seriousness would you choose instead?

because providing healthcare, clean electric power and high speed rail would be pretty fucking nice if we could get some here.

meanwhile we have trump, using ice at the polls… seriously democratic shit there.

not a fan of china, but I do wish we had their solar and rail outputs…

lol… have you seen the press here bending the knee over and over to trump? fuck the only outfit I’ve seen stand up to him is the bbc…

          free press chortle

Free press. In the US, the press is bought,

also, it’s not free if it’s bought.

That is what I meant. The US and China stand on opposite ends on the spectrum of free press. In China, the press isn’t free and in the US, there are no protections keeping the press from being taken over by moneyed interests.

Life expectancy doubled under Mao. Foot binding was ended. He was instrumental in the victory of China against Japanese imperialism. China rapidly industrialized under Mao. Without Mao, there certainly would have been someone else playing his historic role, but the important factor is that it was indeed Mao that led China to liberation and helped set in stone the modern prosperous China.
