“Governments don’t want a population capable of critical thinking, they want obedient workers, people just smart enough to run the machines and just dumb enough to passively accept their situation.”
― George CarlinThe quote is about governments … but in this day in age, this can be applied to corporations, the godfather of modern governments
have you ever seen a CEO burn a pile of money before tho?
Every day
joker burned the pile of money because he wanted to show that power, money, and the incentives that drive capitalism meant nothing to him. moth supposes you might be being hyperbolic to say you see capitalist CEOs share that viewpoint every day, let alone literally burning piles of money.
In the token fire

Mr. Robot
Remember, the people in the c-suite are not there because they’re the best or the smartest. They’re not there because they earned their position through hard work an intelligence.
They are in those seats because they are willing to lick the boot of someone who has more money and power. Nobody “takes” a job, they ask for a job or they’re permitted one.
CEOs are nothing more than the toadies of those with more money and power. I have gotten a front row seat to this over and over. CISO of my last company is a complete and utter twat. Knows nothing does nothing. However, he does know which boot to lick and he does so with elan. He will persist until he is no longer useful. He’s one of the least talented security practitioners I have ever had the displeasure to meet. He’s howdy doody come to life.
This is not uncommon. Don’t be a c-suite worshipper. Most of them are assclowns. On rare occasion a smart one will get through, but they usually don’t last long.

Wasn’t that right before he burned all the money to prove it wasn’t the point
Yeah. Famously so.
I think this might be a shit post.
This meme is often earnestly mismemed, as many seem to miss the reference.
Underrated comment of the year right here!
Yeah.
One could argue “that’s the joke; many CEOs burn money making bad decisions.” But that kinda overrides the original point.
I think OP (or whoever made the meme) just missed the reference.
Just think of the picture as a clown sitting on a pile of money, and the sentiment works.
Yep. The scrooge mcduck diving into money image would have fit better
They must sacrifice an intern for the benefit of the shareholders. The law requires it.
they want the money concerns to be all theirs
The joker burned the money to make some retarded anarchist statement. He’s literally the opposite of what the meme is trying to convey.
In the movie sure.
In the image its just an evil clown with a fat hoard.
sorry boss, i accidentally spilled my engagement all over the back parking lot
What is money?
The premier Great Filter, perhaps.
They don’t want to hire someone that will replace them, you want loyal bees, that will come in sick and work free overtime
aren’t CEOs usually paid in stock, which therefore makes them financially motivated to have the company appear to do better?
Yes.
However, “best” is subjective. What is “best” for the worker is not what is best for the shareholder. Every cent that company pays its workers is a cent that can’t be paid to shareholders, so the CEO’s motivation is to fuck over his workers as much as they will tolerate.
Rules for thee…
