  • You’re hard pressed to find a more vindictive audience than what we’ve got here. Everyone’s on a constant hunt for something to disagree about or to maybe spot a small crack that lets the actual motives shine through and when they spot something they point it out viciously. Can’t just politely disagree with anyone let alone try and have a constructive conversation about how much we actually disagree about. No, they used AI and thus this person gets written off completely and called an asshole and fascist for it.

This makes even less sense when you consider the fact that usually the underlying reasons are political. To win in politics, all you need is numbers. That’s it. So why the fuck is everyone constantly put through this Navy SEALs hell week level of scrutiny. Nobody is ever good enough. Sometimes makes it feel like some simply want to lose just so that they can keep complaining how everything is the fault of someone else.

  • No one is stopping me from becoming a different person if I wanted to so the fact that I’m not taking dramatic steps to change indicates that I’m probably roughly where I want to be.

I do admire people like Andrew Camarata for their work ethic, but again - nothing is stopping me from doing the same, yet I don’t, so maybe I just want the results, not what it actually takes to get there.

My role model is Snufkin character from the Moomin cartoon/anime. A quiet, humble, independent professional.

  • Yes, not even the worst people you can imagine. I don’t believe in free will so I don’t view these people as ultimately responsible for what they are. They could not be have acted otherwise and any kind of punishment carries the implicit assumption that they could have but actively choose not to.

If someone intentionally causes immense suffering to others and is unable to stop that behaviour then I think these people should be locked away. Not as a punishment but to defend the innocent. If a bear wanders into a neighbourhood and mauls a person, we shoot the bear but not out of retribution. If we could tell it to go back to the forest and stay there, and it did, then it wouldn’t make much sense to follow it there and make it suffer to even things out, would it?
