2·1 day agoAutomated scans of printouts can have all sorts of artifacts. I suppose if it was taken with a phone in a hurry or serrupticiously, it could be rolling shutter artifacts too.
I agree that the ballots should have focused on fixing the inequality and should have fucked the billionaires who caused these problems.
Ukraine was trickier at that time though. They were still uncertain who was going to run Ukraine. Poroshenko was a bit questionable but at least started to defend Ukraine, but had serious problems with corruption too if I recall. Zelenskyy wasn’t in power yet and propping up the wrong guy was risky.
The problem is that the Obama team never seemed to think Trump had a chance and figured Clinton would be able to work on all the problems it was in the middle of. That was the biggest mistake of his presidency IMO. that and allowing McConnell to steal the Supreme Court
This is forky spoony though.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Hello darkness, my old friend...English
3·1 day agoWhere I live it’s cold and dark at 7 in the winter even with standard time. All it means is the the sun starts to blind my on the way to work after the time change, which doesn’t really help. And I hate coming home in the dark so much more.
They grow when you mouse over them, or at least did. I got used to not needing them with touchpad scrolling being so good on Macs.

You can turn them on in permanently in the desktop os, but I’ve never liked in the phone.
We used to get even worse propaganda in the 80s.
One house would give out creationist pamphlets with comics about evolved monkeys and Christian bullshit.
The problem was they were in the same area as one of the full sized candy bar houses, and we could never remember which was which, so they got us multiple years.
Mac an iOS scroll bars work well most of the time. Sometimes they do fade out a bit faster than it’d like though. But they are touchable.
I’m the opposite, I think I’m likely in the adhd spectrum, but caffeine after 1 or 2pm wrecks me that night.
Or a wave function.
There were some younger dudes who were going out mini cans of Coke for kids last night. My 8 y/o kid proceeded to try and negotiate having it for the next 45 minutes of the walk before I finally convinced him to trade me for a non caffeinated sugary drink at a later date.

3·4 days agoFinancial advisers at Chase were suggesting sitting in cash for the week of the election. Funny thing was the guy we were talking to was referring to a memo he got and didn’t even realize what the 3rd of November was this year. Or at least he pretended not to know.
Shit might get crazy, but I’m sure the same assholes will profit no matter what.

I also thought the Obama bailouts were largely if not completely repaid with interest, albeit with interest rates that were close to zero at the time.
Also Dodd-Frank was a good law and gave us the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Which until Trump and Doge killed it, was actually putting a small dent in financial crimes and credit card predators.
It must have been dreaming about superpac cash.
Similar idea, but the pun makes it worth it.
