When I would boil 2 boxes of different shape pastas, I would boil 2 pots of water, instead of timing it out. (Ie: pasta1 needs 7 mins, pasta2 needs 10. Boil pasta2 for 3 minutes, then add pasta1 and boil for 7 mins.)
Not OP, but if I only have a little bit left of one package, it makes sense to use it up and round out the required amount with a new package, which might not be the same shape or brand (and times vary widely between brands sometimes, too). I mean, I’m probably not throwing elbows and spaghetti in the same pot, but elbows and shells, or two different brands of elbows for some nice mac & cheese? Absolutely.
Sometimes I only need one portion for a pot of soup, or a recipe wants some weird percentage of a package. Sometimes that works out between cooking sessions (the weird percentage left over is just enough for the soup!), but I generally can’t be bothered to stockpile odds and ends of pasta in the hope it works out. Easier (and more fun, imo) to just put two kinds in the same dish.

I still snap my spaghetti in half and refuse to change my evil ways.
But why would you do this
Because I’m not very smart
Jarbles has dedicated his life to being annoying to italians
why are you boiling different pasta shapes at once?
It’s so much more interesting to your mouth, try it sometime!

Hogwash. Spaghetti are fungible.
Fair!
How does that happen? I portion out my pasta, usually get 4 servings per box. I have never had ’ a little bit left’.
375g packet. Need 500 for the family. End up using 1 & 1/3 packets, have 250g left. Rinse repeat and you get leftover packets.

Maybe he likes the pasta boquet.
Not OP, but I often do this with ravioli. I prefer to have more than one type and some of them take longer than others.
To put on his pizza, of course!
