It reminds me of that exchange in Blaze of Glory, between Sisko and Eddington.

“And you drove them back! Right into the arms of the MAGAts Dominion! End of story.”

The only way to make billionaires not be billionaires is to do everything possible to avoid money. I am not saying to avoid wealth, but to trade in value rather than money. Don’t exchange currency when possible. Trade your work. Trade your goods.

Yes, I know that a certain amount of money exchange is required, but everyone doing their part can have an effect.

They’ve been through so many redesigns at this point. Enterprise, the Kelvin Star Trek Game, Online had a more faithful adaption, then obviously SNW completely overhauled them (for worse IMO). And thats not counting comics.

Lower Decks is the only time they used the TOS design, during Rutherford’s blackouts he ends up in the middle of a Gorn wedding.

Shame they have the ST property. I won’t watch any more shows that are involved with Paramount.

And I don’t give a fuck about piracy. I won’t watch things made and owned by shitty companies.

I made a point of buying physical copies of anything under the impending Skydanxe umbrella while I could. At this point, second hand copies are the only good option left.

At least, we have reason to hope that the Skydance era of Paramount won’t last long: AFAIK Skydance is underwritten by the Ellison’s family fortune, but that is by now deeply entangled with the AI bubble, because David’s father, Larry Ellison, has invested so much in it. If the AI bubble bursts, it remains to be seen how much longer the Ellison family can keep control over the Skydance conglomerate. Of course, it would not serve Paramount well if it had to change owners yet again.

Star Trek will end up owned by the Saudis.

Even if he lost 99% of his wealth, he still has $ 3.65 billion. Rich people can afford to fail big time and suffer no real consequences.

Ellison’s money comes from Oracle which is in on the AI stuff but his money is still made by having its claws deep into many of the fortune 500. Even if the bubble bursts he’s still got plenty of money left to first his paramount gambit.

It’s not a problem specific to Paramount or even the industry–t’s an economy-wide problem. We are being run by finances guys that understand nothing but make line go up, not movies, not video games, not chocolate bars, not beloved TV franchises.

I don’t watch star trek. Who are those last two aliens and are they single and ready to mingle?

Paramount trashing star trek, but simultaneously doing great things for the Avatar series.
